Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into strips about 1/4 inch thick to create natural cut fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Fries

Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel to remove as much moisture as possible.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, pepper, and paprika to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot as a side dish or snack.
