Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Make the Spice Mix

In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix well to create a spice blend.

  3. 3

    Season the Steak

Rub olive oil over both sides of the steaks. Generously apply the spice blend to both sides of the steaks, pressing it into the meat.

  4. 4

    Heat the Pan

Preheat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it’s very hot. You can test the heat by flicking a few drops of water into the pan; if they sizzle and evaporate immediately, the pan is ready.

  5. 5

    Cook the Steak

Place the steaks in the hot skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Be careful, as the spices will create a charred crust.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your blackened steak!
