Directions
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- 2
Mix the Custard
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine and Add Apples
Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and gently fold in the diced apples. Make sure the bread is well soaked.
- 4
Transfer to Baking Dish
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and pour the bread mixture into it evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the top.
- 5
Bake
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- 6
Serve
Allow the bread pudding to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with the remaining caramel sauce and top with whipped cream if desired.
