Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Tuna
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, minced fresh ginger, and minced garlic. Mix well. Place the wild ahi tuna steaks into a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Rice and Broccoli
While the tuna is marinating, prepare the jasmine rice according to package instructions. Steam the broccoli until tender, about 5-7 minutes, and set aside.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 4 tablespoons of olive oil and heat until shimmering.
- 4
Sear the Tuna
Remove the tuna steaks from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. Season both sides with sea salt and black pepper. Carefully place the tuna steaks in the hot skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if desired.
- 5
Add Sesame Seeds
During the last minute of cooking, sprinkle sesame seeds over the tuna steaks to toast them slightly.
Serving
- 6
Plate the Dish
Once cooked to your liking, remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Slice the tuna steaks against the grain. Serve over a bed of jasmine rice with steamed broccoli on the side. Garnish with chopped green onions.
