Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until a dough forms, then turn it out onto a floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Loaf

Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the loaf with the damp cloth again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.

  7. 7

    Bake the Bread

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the loaf has risen, bake it for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

  8. 8

    Cool the Bread

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Dips Preparation

  1. 9

    Prepare Hummus

If using store-bought hummus, simply place it in a serving bowl. If making homemade, blend chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil until smooth.

  2. 10

    Prepare Tzatziki

In a bowl, mix together plain yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt to taste.

  3. 11

    Prepare Roasted Red Pepper Dip

Blend roasted red peppers, cream cheese, garlic, and spices until smooth.

  4. 12

Prepare Olive Oil with Balsamic Vinegar

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  5. 13

    Garnish with Fresh Herbs

Chop fresh herbs of your choice and sprinkle them over the dips for added flavor and presentation.
