Tea Base

Method

Prepare the Tea Base

  1. 1

    Brew the Tea

Boil 2 cups of water in a saucepan. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 4 tsp of black tea leaves. Steep for about 5 minutes. Strain the tea to remove leaves and stir in 2 tbs of sugar until dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Cook the Tapioca Pearls

  1. 2

    Cook the Pearls

In a large pot, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of tapioca pearls and stir gently. Cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pearls are soft and chewy. Remove from heat and let sit for an additional 10 minutes.

  2. 3

    Make the Syrup

Drain the cooked pearls and rinse under cold water. In a separate bowl, mix the pearls with 1 tbs of brown sugar to create a syrup. Set aside.

Assemble the Bubble Tea

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large glass, add 1 cup of the cooled tea base, 1 cup of milk, and 2 tbs of your preferred flavor syrup. Stir well to combine.

  2. 5

    Add the Tapioca Pearls

Spoon the tapioca pearls into the glass with the tea mixture.

  3. 6

    Serve

Add 1 cup of ice cubes to the glass, stir again, and taste. Adjust sweetness with extra sugar if desired. Serve with a wide straw.
