Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients. If using optional add-ins, prepare them by slicing the tomatoes and avocado, and cooking the bacon if needed.
Cooking
- 2
Butter the Bread
Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- 3
Assemble the Sandwich
Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in a preheated skillet. Lay one slice of cheese on top. If using optional add-ins, add them now. Top with the second slice of cheese and then the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- 4
Grill the Sandwich
Cook on medium heat for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- 5
Serve
Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute. Cut it in half and serve warm.
