Meatballs and Sauce
Method
Preparation and Assembly
- 1
Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Form Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
- 4
Add Marinara Sauce
Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs in the skillet. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 5
Prepare the Focaccia
Slice the focaccia loaf in half horizontally. Optionally, toast the cut sides if desired.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Place the meatballs and sauce on the bottom half of the focaccia, then layer with provolone cheese. Place the top half of the focaccia over the cheese.
- 7
Serve
Slice the sandwich into portions and serve warm.
