Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Sriracha Honey Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sriracha sauce, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and minced garlic. Stir until the mixture is well combined and heated through. Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro.

  3. 3

    Dredge the Chicken

In a separate bowl, add the all-purpose flour. Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator and let excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge each piece in flour, shaking off any excess.

  4. 4

    Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the chicken pieces, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 10-15 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  5. 5

    Coat the Chicken

Once fried, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. While still hot, drizzle or toss the fried chicken in the sriracha honey sauce until well coated.
