Brew the Tea
In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the black tea bags. Let steep for 5 minutes.

Sweeten the Tea
After steeping, remove the tea bags and stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar until fully dissolved.

Cool the Tea
Allow the sweetened tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.

Serve
Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the chilled sweet tea over the ice, and garnish with lemon slices if desired.
