Chicken and Marinade
Method
Frying and Honey Glaze
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- 2
Prepare for Frying
Remove the chicken from the marinade and let excess liquid drip off. Place the chicken on a wire rack and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Make sure there's enough oil to fully submerge the chicken pieces.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the chicken to the hot oil, working in batches if necessary. Fry for about 12-15 minutes per side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 5
Honey Glaze
Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the oil and place it on a wire rack to drain. Drizzle honey over the hot chicken while it’s still warm, allowing it to coat evenly.
- 6
Serve
Serve the honey-dusted fried chicken hot with a farm-fresh side of your choice.
