Biscuits

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Cut the cold unsalted butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Buttermilk

Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it for about 30 seconds. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.

  6. 6

    Bake the Biscuits

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Prepare the Toppings

While biscuits are baking, prepare blueberry jam and whipped butter by mixing softened butter with a bit of honey or sugar to taste.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve warm biscuits with blueberry jam and whipped butter on the side.
