Method

Prepare the Coleslaw

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Chill the Coleslaw

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Make the Russian Dressing

  1. 3

    Combine the Dressing Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika until smooth and well combined.

Grill the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Prepare the Sandwich

Lay out two slices of rye bread and spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice. On the unbuttered side, layer the sliced turkey, cheddar cheese, and a generous amount of coleslaw.

  2. 5

    Add Dressing

Drizzle the Russian dressing over the coleslaw and top with the other slice of rye bread, buttered side up.

  3. 6

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  4. 7

    Serve

Remove the sandwich from the skillet, cut in half, and serve warm with extra coleslaw on the side if desired.
