Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine the canned pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and thoroughly mixed.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold using a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans and chocolate chips into the batter.

Baking

  1. 6

    Pour Batter

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  3. 8

    Cool

Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
