Method
Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a Mickey Mouse-shaped cake pan.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared Mickey Mouse-shaped pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool the Cake
Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Decoration
- 7
Frost the Cake
Once the cake is completely cool, spread an even layer of chocolate frosting over the entire surface of the cake.
- 8
Decorate with Fondant
Roll out the black, white, and red fondant to create Mickey Mouse's ears, eyes, and mouth. Place them on the frosted cake as desired.
- 9
Add Sprinkles
If desired, add sprinkles on top for extra decoration.
