Pizza Dough & Toppings
Method
Preparation & Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a small bowl, mix warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- 2
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to the highest setting (usually 475°F to 500°F or 245°C to 260°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll or stretch it into a 12-inch round. Transfer it to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.
- 5
Add Sauce & Toppings
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge. Tear the mozzarella into pieces and distribute it over the sauce. Add fresh basil leaves on top.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Finish & Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, drizzle with olive oil, and add freshly ground black pepper. Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
