Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.

  2. 2

    Cook the Meats

Add the ground sirloin, ground veal, and chopped meat to the skillet. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking up any large pieces. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and chopped basil. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, half of the mozzarella cheese, and half of the parmesan cheese. Mix well and set aside.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Lasagna

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 pasta sheets on top, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.

  6. 6

    Top with Cheese

Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the top layer of meat sauce.

  7. 7

    Bake

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with a side salad.
