Prepare the Pork Shanks
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Season the pork shanks with salt and black pepper. Sear the pork shanks on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Slow Braise
Pour in the teriyaki sauce and soy sauce. Add the brown sugar. Cover and reduce the heat to low, allowing the pork shanks to braise for 2-3 hours, or until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.

Prepare the Toppings
While the pork is braising, chop the scallions and crush the peanuts. Set aside.

Serve
Once the pork shanks are done, remove them from the pot and shred the meat if desired. Serve the pork shanks with the teriyaki glaze drizzled on top, and garnish with chopped scallions and crushed peanuts.
