Method

Smoothie Base

1

Prepare banana

Peel the ripe banana and break it into 2–3 chunks so it blends easily.

2

Add liquids and yogurt

Place the banana chunks into a blender. Pour in 1 cup unsweetened soy milk and add 3 tablespoons of nonfat vanilla frozen yogurt.

3

Add ice (optional)

If you prefer a thicker, colder smoothie, add 1 cup of ice. Skip if using very cold frozen yogurt or if you want a thinner drink.

4

Blend until smooth

Blend on high for 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides once if needed to ensure even blending.

5

Taste and sweeten

Taste the smoothie. If you want it sweeter, add 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup and blend briefly (5–10 seconds) to incorporate.

Garnish & Serve

6

Pour the finished smoothie into a 12–16 oz glass.

7

Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of ground chocolate evenly over the top of the smoothie. If using finely grated chocolate or cocoa nibs, distribute them as a finishing dusting.

8

Float a banana slice on the rim or on top of the smoothie for presentation.

9

Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy.
