Smoothie Base

Method

Smoothie Base

1

Prepare fruit

Wash and hull the strawberries. Peel the banana and break it into chunks so it blends evenly.

2

Layer ingredients in blender

Add the coconut water and pineapple juice to the blender first (this helps the blades move). Next add the fresh yogurt, strawberries, banana chunks, and finally the nonfat vanilla frozen yogurt on top.

3

Blend to smooth

Secure the lid and blend on medium-high speed until the mixture is smooth and homogenous, about 45–75 seconds depending on your blender. Stop and scrape down the sides once if needed and blend again.

Finish & Serve

4

Adjust texture & sweetness

If the smoothie is too thick, add up to 1/4 cup extra coconut water or pineapple juice and pulse to combine. If you prefer sweeter, add 1 tsp honey or agave and blend briefly. If you want a brighter flavor, add 1 tsp fresh lime juice and blend 5–10 seconds.

5

Add ice (optional)

If you want a colder, slushier drink, add the ice cubes and pulse 6–8 times until crushed and incorporated.

6

Serve

Pour the smoothie into two tall glasses. Garnish each with a mint leaf (and a strawberry on the rim if desired). Serve immediately.

7

Notes for hangover relief

This smoothie provides hydration (coconut water, pineapple juice), electrolytes, easy-to-digest carbohydrates (banana, yogurt) and probiotics (yogurt) which can help comfort after a night out. Sip slowly and continue to hydrate with plain water as well.
