Meatballs Preparation

Prepare the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined. Form into meatballs about 2 inches in diameter.
Ragu Sauce Preparation

Make the Ragu Sauce
In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 30 minutes.

Slow Cook the Meatballs
Add the prepared meatballs to the ragu sauce, cover, and let it cook on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Plate the spaghetti, top with the meatballs and ragu sauce. Garnish with shaved parmesan and fresh basil leaves.
