Biscuits & Gravy
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Biscuits
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in milk until just combined. Turn onto a floured surface and knead gently. Roll out to 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

Prepare the Gravy
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add milk, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens. Season with black pepper and cayenne pepper to taste.
