Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips or your desired fry shape.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes them crispier.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.

  2. 4

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  3. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pot to ensure even cooking.

  4. 6

    Drain and Season

Once cooked, remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle salt over the fries while they are still hot.
