Preparation and Cooking

- 3
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.
- 4
Dry the Fries
After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature for frying.
- 6
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil without overcrowding the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Season
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.
- 8
Serve
Transfer the fries to a serving basket or plate and serve immediately while hot, optionally with dipping sauces of your choice.
