Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Meatball Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

  3. 3

    Form Meatballs

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 4

    Bake Meatballs

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 5

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

Add chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 8

    Simmer Sauce

Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes.

  2. 10

    Serve with Provolone

Serve the meatballs on a plate, top with slices of provolone cheese, and let it melt slightly before serving.
