Prepare the Beef
In a large pot, brown the beef roast on all sides over medium-high heat. Remove the beef and set aside.

Simmer the Beef
Return the beef to the pot and add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Simmer for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender.

Thicken the Gravy
Once the beef is done, remove it from the pot. Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry and stir it into the simmering liquid to thicken the gravy. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes.

Serve
Slice the beef and serve it on a slice of bread. Top with the thickened gravy. Serve with a side of mashed potatoes and optional soup or salad.
