Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ham

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Rinse the country ham under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Score the Ham

Using a sharp knife, score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern. This will help the glaze to penetrate the meat.

  3. 3

    Make the Glaze

In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, honey, mustard, black pepper, and cloves until well combined.

  4. 4

    Apply the Glaze

Spread half of the glaze mixture over the scored surface of the ham, ensuring it gets into the cuts.

  5. 5

    Add Water

Place the ham in a roasting pan and pour the water around it to keep the meat moist during cooking.

  6. 6

    Bake the Ham

Cover the ham loosely with foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes per pound. Uncover during the last 30 minutes and brush with remaining glaze.

  7. 7

    Check for Doneness

The ham is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).

  8. 8

    Rest and Serve

Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before slicing and serving.
