Focaccia Bread

Method

Focaccia Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow to sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Add Toppings

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Once dough has risen, press it into a greased baking pan. Evenly spread minced garlic, chopped onion, and rosemary on top.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
