Method

Pulled Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Combine Seasonings

In a bowl, mix together smoked paprika, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Season the Pork

Rub the spice mixture all over the pork chunks, ensuring they are well coated.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Onion and Garlic

Chop the onion and mince the garlic cloves.

  5. 5

    Add Ingredients to Slow Cooker

Place the seasoned pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, and BBQ sauce into a slow cooker.

  6. 6

    Cook the Pork

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds.

  7. 7

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded pork to the cooker and mix it with the juices.

Biscuit Preparation

  1. 8

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 9

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 10

    Cut in Butter

Add the cold butter (cut into small pieces) to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 11

    Add Milk

Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 12

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it down to about 1-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out the biscuits.

  6. 13

    Bake the Biscuits

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
