Chicken Tenders
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Cut the chicken breasts into strips, about 1 inch wide.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add the chicken strips, toss to coat, and let marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- 3
Set Up Breading Station
In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In another bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, add the cornstarch.
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each strip in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with cornstarch. Ensure they are evenly coated.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the breaded chicken strips into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the chicken tenders from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
