Preparation
- 1
Muddle the Mint
In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and 1 oz of simple syrup. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the mint leaves to release their oils. Be careful not to shred the leaves too much.
- 2
Add Lime Juice and Rum
Pour in the fresh lime juice and white rum into the glass with the muddled mint. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
Assembly
- 3
Add Ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes, almost to the top.
- 4
Top with Soda Water
Pour soda water over the ice-filled glass, filling it to the top. Stir gently to integrate the soda with the other ingredients.
- 5
Garnish
Garnish the drink with the lime wedges and a few extra mint leaves for a fresh look. Optionally, you can use a straw for easier sipping.
