Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Flat Iron Steak

Remove the flat iron steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on both sides.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Place the steak on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Let the Steak Rest

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Mashed Potatoes

While the steak is resting, peel and chop the red skin potatoes. Boil them in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.

  6. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Add butter and milk to the potatoes and mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Cook the Seasonal Vegetables

Steam or sauté the seasonal vegetables until tender, about 5-7 minutes.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve alongside the mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
