Preparation
Muddle the Thai basil
In a sturdy glass, add the 10 fresh Thai basil leaves and the fresh lime juice. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press down on the leaves to release their oils. Be careful not to shred the leaves too much.
Add sweeteners
Add the simple syrup to the muddled basil and lime juice mixture. Stir lightly to combine the flavors.
Combine with rum
Pour in the 2 oz of white rum to the glass, mixing well with the muddled basil, lime juice, and simple syrup.
Add ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes, about 1 cup worth, allowing the ice to chill the mixture.
Top with club soda
Slowly pour 4 oz of club soda over the ice and cocktail mixture. Stir gently to combine.
Garnishing
Final touches
Garnish the cocktail with 2 lime wedges on the rim of the glass and add 2 fresh Thai basil leaves on top for aroma and decoration.
