Method
Preparing Sticky Rice
- 1
Rinse the Rice
Place the sticky rice in a large bowl and rinse it under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- 2
Soak the Rice
Soak the rinsed sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight to soften it.
- 3
Steam the Rice
After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice for about 20-25 minutes until it becomes translucent and tender.
Making Coconut Sauce
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved, but do not let it boil.
- 5
Mix with Rice
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about half of the coconut sauce over it. Gently mix to combine and let it sit for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Preparing Mango
- 6
Slice the Mango
While the rice is absorbing the coconut sauce, peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin wedges.
Serving
- 7
Plate the Dish
Serve the sticky rice on a plate, arrange the mango slices beside it, and drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the top.
- 8
Add Toppings
Sprinkle sesame seeds and coconut flakes over the dish for added flavor and texture.
