Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Clams

In a large pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the cleaned clams and cover. Cook until the clams open, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Vegetables

In another pot, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the diced potatoes and parsnips, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until they start to soften.

  3. 3

    Add Caldo Verde

Pour in the caldo verde and bring to a simmer. Cook for another 10 minutes until the potatoes and parsnips are fully cooked through.

  4. 4

    Cook the Striped Bass

In a skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the striped bass fillets with salt and black pepper. Cook the fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through.

  5. 5

    Combine and Serve

In serving bowls, ladle some of the caldo verde soup with potatoes and parsnips, place the striped bass on top, and garnish with the cooked clams and chopped parsley.
