Method

Pancake Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. It's okay if there are a few lumps; overmixing can make the pancakes tough.

  4. 4

    Preheat Skillet

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with a small amount of butter or oil.

  5. 5

    Cook Pancakes

Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove pancakes from the skillet and keep warm. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve stacks of pancakes topped with maple syrup and fresh fruit if desired.
