Brioche Dough
Method
Baking Procedure
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
- 3
Combine Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- 4
Form the Dough
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a sticky dough forms.
- 5
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- 6
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 3 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
- 8
Second Rise
Place the shaped dough balls into a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- 9
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising for the second time.
- 10
Bake the Brioche
Once the dough has risen, sprinkle the top with sea salt and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 11
Cool and Serve
Remove the brioche from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
