Preparation of Coffee Mixture

Make the Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature.

Mix Coffee and Liqueur
In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso with 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur. Set aside.
Cream Filling Preparation

Whisk the Egg Yolks
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until smooth.

Whip the Cream
In another bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

Chill the Filling
Cover the cream filling with plastic wrap and refrigerate while you prepare the ladyfingers.
Assembly

Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Dessert
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom.

Spread the Cream Filling
Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream.
Topping and Chilling

Dust with Cocoa
Sift 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder over the top layer of the tiramisu.

Garnish with dark chocolate shavings to taste.

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
