Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Take two slices of bread and lay them flat on a clean surface.

  2. 2

    Add Cheese and Optional Ingredients

Place 1 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese on one slice of bread. If desired, add optional ingredients like a teaspoon of garlic powder, a tablespoon of Dijon mustard, or two slices of tomato on top of the cheese.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on the outer side of the bread that does not have cheese.

  2. 4

    Heat the Pan

Place a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and let it warm up for a couple of minutes.

  3. 5

    Cook the Sandwich

Once the pan is hot, place the bread slice with cheese (cheese side up) into the pan. Top with the second slice of bread (buttered side out).

  4. 6

    Grill Until Golden

Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown. Then, carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Once cooked, remove the sandwich from the pan, let it cool for a minute, then slice it in half and serve warm.
