Seasoning and Cooking

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Steak

Thinly slice the ribeye steak against the grain into strips about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

In a bowl, toss the sliced steak with salt and black pepper to season evenly.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté the Onions and Mushrooms

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Then add sliced mushrooms and continue to sauté until mushrooms are tender, about another 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add the Peppers

Add the hot or sweet peppers to the skillet with the onions and mushrooms, and sauté for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 5

    Cook the Steak

In a separate skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over high heat. Add the seasoned steak strips and cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the steak is browned and cooked to your desired doneness.

  2. 6

    Combine Ingredients

Mix the sautéed vegetables into the cooked steak in the skillet and stir until well combined.

Assembling the Cheesesteak

  1. 7

    Melt the Cheese

Layer the slices of white American cheese over the steak and vegetable mixture in the skillet. Cover with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.

  2. 8

    Prepare the Rolls

While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls open and lightly toast them if desired.

  3. 9

    Assemble the Sandwiches

Spoon the cheesesteak mixture into each hoagie roll. Serve hot with optional additional peppers if desired.
