Method

Preparation of Meats

  1. 1

    Marinate the Meats

In a large bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breast and steak, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Meats

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the meats from the marinade and grill or sauté for 6-8 minutes per side for chicken and 4-6 minutes per side for steak, or until cooked through. Remove from heat and let rest before slicing into strips.

Preparation of Vegetables

  1. 3

    Chop the Vegetables

While the meats are marinating, slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips. Mince the garlic.

  2. 4

    Cook the Vegetables

In the same skillet or grill, add the sliced vegetables and minced garlic. Sauté over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are tender but still crisp.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Warm the Tortillas

In a dry skillet, warm the flour tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Fajitas

On each tortilla, layer the sliced meats, sautéed vegetables, and desired toppings such as sour cream, guacamole, shredded cheese, and fresh cilantro. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the top.
