Tortilla Preparation

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Tortilla Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut the Tortillas

Start by stacking the flour tortillas on a clean cutting board. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each tortilla into 8 wedges.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep frying pan, pour in the vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of tortilla; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  3. 3

    Fry the Tortilla Wedges

Carefully add a few tortilla wedges into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried wedges to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  1. 4

    Mix the Cinnamon Sugar

In a medium bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Stir well until the mixture is evenly blended.

  2. 5

    Coat the Fried Wedges

While the tortilla wedges are still warm, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over them generously. Toss the wedges gently in the bowl or use a large zip-top bag to shake them until they are evenly coated with the cinnamon sugar.
