Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Hibiscus

In a medium saucepan, combine the dried hibiscus flowers and 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Spices

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise. Simmer for about 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Sweeten the Brew

After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sugar until fully dissolved.

  4. 4

    Strain the Mixture

Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the mixture into a pitcher to remove the hibiscus flowers and spices.

  5. 5

    Cool Down

Let the hibiscus water cool to room temperature. If desired, refrigerate for a chilled drink.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Pour the hibiscus water into glasses. Serve chilled over ice, if preferred, and enjoy!
