Cornbread Dressing

Cranberry Sauce

Method

Cornbread Dressing

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cornbread

Start by baking the cornbread according to your favorite recipe or a box mix. Let it cool completely before crumbling it into a large bowl.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and celery, cooking until they are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In the bowl with the crumbled cornbread, add the sautéed vegetables, dried sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

  4. 4

    Add Broth and Eggs

Pour in the vegetable broth and add the beaten eggs. Stir until the mixture is evenly moistened. If the mixture seems too dry, add a bit more broth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Dressing

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Cranberry Sauce

  1. 6

    Cook the Cranberries

In a saucepan, combine the fresh cranberries, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  2. 7

    Simmer the Sauce

Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.

  3. 8

    Add Flavor

Stir in the orange juice and zest, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  4. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove from heat and let the sauce cool. It will thicken further as it cools. Serve alongside the cornbread dressing.
