Marshmallow Pecan Topping

Method

Prepare the Yams

  1. 1

    Peeling and Cutting

Peel the yams and cut them into 1-inch cubes.

  2. 2

    Boiling

Place the yam cubes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.

Making the Candied Mixture

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.

  2. 4

    Add Yams

Add the cooked yams to the pot and gently stir to coat them in the syrup. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the yams to absorb the flavors.

Preparing the Topping

  1. 5

    Mix Topping Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the mini marshmallows, chopped pecans, and melted butter. Stir until well mixed.

Baking

  1. 6

    Assemble and Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the candied yams to a baking dish, then evenly sprinkle the marshmallow-pecan topping over the yams.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the marshmallows are melted.

  3. 8

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious Candied Yams with Marshmallow Pecan Topping!
