Mojito Ingredients

Method

Mojito Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint

In a sturdy glass or a cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the mint leaves to release their essential oils. Be careful not to shred them into pieces.

  2. 2

    Add Lime and Sugar

Cut the lime into wedges. Squeeze the juice from the wedges into the glass with the muddled mint, then drop the wedges into the glass. Add the granulated sugar. Muddle the ingredients together gently to combine the flavors, ensuring the sugar starts to dissolve.

  3. 3

    Add Rum

Pour the white rum over the muddled mint, lime, and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes, packing them in to ensure the drink stays cold.

  5. 5

    Top with Soda Water

Pour the soda water over the ice until the glass is nearly full. Use a spoon or straw to stir the drink gently to mix all the ingredients together.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish the mojito with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately with a straw.
