Method
Prepare the Fries
- 1
Bake or Fry the Fries
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) or heat oil in a deep fryer. If baking, spread the frozen French fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Drizzle with vegetable oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden and crispy, turning halfway through. If frying, cook in the hot oil according to package instructions until crispy.
Prepare the Cheese Sauce
- 2
Melt the Cheese
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, and milk. Stir continuously until the cheeses melt and the mixture is smooth. If it’s too thick, add a little more milk until the desired consistency is reached.
Assemble the Cheese Fries
- 3
Top the Fries
Once the fries are cooked and crispy, remove them from the oven or fryer. Place them on a serving platter and drizzle the melted cheese sauce generously over the fries.
- 4
Add Optional Toppings
If desired, sprinkle chopped green onions and bacon bits over the cheesy fries. Serve with a side of sour cream for dipping.
