Prepare the Beef Patties

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use your hands to mix until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.

Form Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal parts and shape each part into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Grill or Pan-Fry
In the same skillet or on a grill, cook the beef patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties, then place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patty is cooked to your desired doneness.
Assemble the Burger

Place the top half of the bun over the assembled ingredients to complete the burger.
