Preparation of Cake

- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
- 3
Combine Sugar and Eggs
In another mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- 4
Mix Ingredients
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring constantly to avoid cooking the eggs.
- 5
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the mixture, then fold gently until just combined. Add the vanilla extract and fold again.
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
Baking
- 7
Bake the Cakes
Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
- 8
Cool Slightly
Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for about 1 minute.
- 9
Invert and Serve
Carefully run a knife around the edges of the cakes, then invert them onto individual plates. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and fresh berries if desired.
