Bread Pudding

Whiskey Sauce

Method

Bread Pudding

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Tear the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine the Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture over the torn bread pieces and fold gently to combine. Add the raisins and mix until evenly distributed.

  4. 4

    Bake

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Whiskey Sauce

  1. 5

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

  2. 6

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream, and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. 7

    Add Whiskey and Vanilla

Add the whiskey and vanilla extract to the sauce, and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes to thicken slightly.

  4. 8

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve warm over the baked bread pudding.
